Dan Wilton made his first stop-motion 8mm movie at 15 years old. He sent it in to the Kodak Teenage Movie Awards and was presented with a certificate for his "motion picture". That hooked him and he began making film shorts that included the blending of live-action with stop-motion animation. He voraciously read books on all aspects of filmmaking, editing, and special effects. When he didn't have the money to buy his own equipment, he found sponsors to fund his productions.
Dan graduated to low-budget feature-length westerns and detective films that he wrote himself and convinced friends, family, and acquaintances to become stars. Self-taught, he plunged into double-system editing on a 4-gang synchronizers, AB Roll FX with film lab intermediates. Laborious, intense, and enjoyable, Dan was exposed to all aspects of pre-production script-writing and planning. He produced and directed. He edited, mixed soundtracks, composited effects and titles, and projected his final product to audiences all around the Northwest.
Dan eventually transferred his talents into the world of video. As computer-based editing emerged, he quickly shifted away from analog cutting.
Digital changed his world of creativity. Now Dan is heavily immersed in Final Cut Pro as his mainstream editing tool. He mixes dialog, music, and sound effects using Apple's SoundTrack Pro software. His specialty is blending composited live action, green screen, and digital elements in Motion, the clever special effects toolset also from the Apple camp. Digital, DVD, or tape output in any format.
From script to screen, Dan delivers award-winning music videos, documentaries, single-purpose films, training videos, and creative personal films. Clients range from local/national Christian church organizations to Fortune 50 companies like J.P. Morgan/Chase.
